I often get questions about what to wear to individual or group portrait sessions. I recommend:

  1. Selecting a color palette (approximately three colors that compliment each other) and coordinate accordingly. Use it as a guide to create a cohesive look, but not so much so that you match one another.
  2. Avoid a lot of pattern. Subtle patterns can be nice, but too much pattern or intense pattern can be distracting.
  3. Consider layering, especially during colder seasons. This can add interest to outfits and gives you the option to mix it up between shots.
  4. Think about texture. Adding texture (lace, knits, etc.) can be a way to add "pop" to a picture without going overboard.
